Rumsey Rose Garden (Original) - Parramatta. 25th October 2013.

(How the flowers of the garden were originally photographed, see other post of same date)

With roads and National Parks closed and a thick smoke haze covering Sydney from the fires still burning in the mountains, today wasn't a good one to travelling far.
The Heritage roses in this garden were a gift from Heather and Roy Rumsey and are now maintained by the Heritage Roses Group and the Parramatta Park Trust.
There are some loose themes running through this post with the following, gate house, park bench, Jacaranda and Illawarra Flame Tree appearing in the background of most photos .

Images labelled 'Rumsey Rose Garden'  had no labels with the plants or I could just not work out which was which.

Rumsey Rose Garden (Impressions) - Parramatta. 25th October 2013.

I would have more of a chance of walking to the moon than putting paint to canvas/paper and it being called 'art'. Today's effort is what I imagined I might have been able to do with easel and palette, if I had the skills, with the roses of the Rumsey's.

Mitchell Park National Park. 18th October 2013.

Fires circling Sydney at the moment have closed a lot of the main roads in the directions I usually take so I had to kept closer to home.
When I saw the wetland at Mitchell Park was dry, it was a bit of a shock, as this was the first time I had seen it this way. Conditions in the bush weren't much better and there wasn't much to choose from.

The leaves of these shrubs highlight the stress the flora is undergoing
due to hot and dry condition in the bush.

Actinotus helianthi  -  Flannel Flower.

Wahlenbergia gracilis  -
 Sprawling Bluebell, Australian Bluebell.

Scribbly Gum damaged by fires many years ago.
These trees just keep on growing as nothing has happened.

Spent flower caps and flowers of
Corymbia eximia  -  Yellow Bloodwood.

Can you see the Old English Sheepdog and pup?
Fallen Yellow Bloodwood blossom.

Morinda jasminoides  -  Morinda, Sweet Morinda, Jasmine Morinda.
The flowers are cute but the fruits............

...........are something else.

(nostrils, eyes and brows added by me)

Parsonsia straminea  -  Common Silkpod, Monkey Rope.
The 'bean' like fruits of this vigorous climber.

Melaleuca linariifolia  -  Flax Leaf Paperbark, Snow in Summer.
Does look like snow in summer.

Dianella longifolia  -  Pale Flax-lily.

Kunzea ambigua  -  Tick Bush.

Geitonoplesium cymosum  -  Scrambling Lily.

Leptospermum trinervium - Flaky-barked Tea-tree.

One of the bracket fungi looking like a pair of slippers stuck on the side
of this eucalypt.
Charred leaves and ash blown in from the bushfires 32 kms away.

TODAY'S  LANDSCAPE / HABITAT.

The wetland was dry.
